Flex-Hone® for Rotors utilizes the patented Flex-Hone® technology to produce the ideal surface finish on automotive and motorcycle disc brake rotors, automotive fly wheels and clutch plates.  Sandpaper, scotch pads, swirl discs, grinding pads or the like all damage the surface because the are following your hands motion, this creates microscopic dips and grooves in the rotor.   Remember, this is the rotor you just spent 10 minutes cutting, trying to create a straight, parallel surface with .001" tolerances.  You must have a cross-hatched finish, not the cross-directional one you have been taught is right.  (If someone says Cross-Directional they are wrong or just misunderstand metal machining processes. Compare the finish on a motor's cylinder, after its re-bored and before you put in a new piston.  Would you ever think of taking a piece of sandpaper or scotch pad to scratch up the walls to create a break-in finish?)
